Boiling an egg at Geysir in Iceland
Geysir is both the name of a geyser located in Haukadalur valley of Iceland, and of the geothermal area surrounding it. It is this geyser at Geysir that gave its name to this geothermal phenomenon all around the world.
The Geysir area has 30 other geysers and hot pools, and numerous fumaroles and mud pots.
North of Geysir are fumaroles, a type of geothermal where only steam and gas escapes. The type named mud pots are actually fumaroles that are boiling up to the surface…. arriving at Geysir late in the evening and feeling a little peckish the Turas team decided to have some boiled eggs…
